The Government of Kalmykia and the Austrian company Diamond Aircraft intend to establish a joint venture for assembling light-engine airplanes in the Kalmykia republic.

July 3, AVIA.RU – The Government of Kalmykia and the Austrian company Diamond Aircraft intend to establish a joint venture assembly of light-engine aircrafts in the republic, hoping to come up with this product to the private market and in the small special aviation field, informs the newspaper “Kommersant” in Volgograd.

The Austrian company Diamond Aircraft is considering building a factory in the territory of Kalmykia’s to assembly light-engine aircraft, manufacturing of aircraft propellers and wings for wind power mills. Diamond Aircraft visited the Kalmykia republic on a working visit and met with local authorities – writes “Kommersant.”

According to the head of press service of President of Kalmykia, Buyancha Galzanov, the director of Diamond Aircraft, Christian Drays remained satisfied’. ‘We have not yet signed any protocols, but reached a verbal agreement on the construction of the light-engine aircraft assembly, and the Austrians are ready to proceed with the project at the end of this year already – said Mr. Galzanov. – Christian Drays refused to name any figures, in particular concerning the volume of investment in the project and the annual volume of production.

As writes the newspaper, the republic’s authorities declare their consent to any number of aircraft produced with a condition that the original figure will gradually increase’. It is planned that Diamond Aircraft will create with the Government of Kalmykia, a joint venture that will be established by analogy with the production company, already operating in China. And Diamond Aircraft intends to develop an integrated project and, together with the production to open a school for training pilots in Elista. The main markets for the company are considered private individuals, agriculture, fire service and air-taxi. ‘At least, these are the main market branches for Austrian planes’ – said Mr. Galzanov.
