Yesterday, 26 April, the central khurul “Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” was the ceremony of consecration of the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. In addition, the monks consecrate all brought from the village Primanych sacred objects, which will be incorporated in the stupa of enlightenment. Among them are statue of Buddha Akshobhya. It is this deity advised the villagers to put in a niche stupa shadzhin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche.

Yesterday, 26 April 2011, the High Lama of Kalmykia and President of the Association of Buddhists of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche gave a lecture at the University of California at Santa Barbara on “Buddhism in Kalmykia in the post-Soviet era.”

First Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Kalmykia, Vyacheslav Ilyumzhinov held a workshop to launch the first two wind farms in the village of Sandy Republic of Kalmykia.

The meeting discussed technical issues and issues of interaction between partners, creating a working committee to run these facilities, the regional program of energy development.

On 14th April Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva paid a working visit to the city of Elista, during which she spoke to Kalmykia’s leader Alexey Orlov about the prospects for development of rhythmic gymnastics in the Republic.

April 12 in Elista, at the invitation shadzhin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche arrives Alexander Berzin – known in the world Buddhologist, Tibet, the historian, Ph.D., Harvard University.

Alexander Berzin was born in Paterson, New Jersey, received in 1965 a bachelor’s degree at the Department of Oriental Studies at Rutgers University in cooperation with Princeton University in 1967 – a master’s degree, and in 1972 – a doctorate at the Department of Far Eastern Languages (Chinese) and Sanskrit and Indian Studies at Harvard University. Today, 10 April 2011, students venerable Geshe-lharamba Tenzin Dugda went to a place of seclusion for the practice of Vajra. Ph.D., professor of Geshe lharamba Tenzin Dugda completed gift of oral comments to the practice of this deity. I must say that the commentary to the practice of Vajra it provides many times and every year more and more Buddhists take part in the exercises.

13th meeting of the Goose Specialist Group

From Thursday 24 March to Tuesday 29 March 2011 the 13th meeting of the Goose Specialist Group of the IUCN-SSC was held in conjunction with the 4th meeting of the Russian Goose, Swan and Duck Study Group (GSDSG) of northern Eurasia in Elista, Kalmykia (Russian Federation).
