Commemorative monument to the Kalmyk victims of the deportation of 1943.
The monument “Exodus and Return” was opened on 29 December 1996 in memory of the deportation of the Kalmyk people in 1943, and the victims of Stalinist repression. The architect of the monument is Sergey Kurneev, sculptor Ernst Neizvestny. The monument was cast in bronze in New York, USA.
Every year on December 28 at the monument is conducted day of remembrance of the victims of the deportation and genocide of the Kalmyks.
