Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliev visited Orthodox chapel and Central Buddhist temple of Kalmykia (kalmyk khurul).

Rashid Nurgaliyev is located in Kalmykia with brief working visit. In Elista Rashid Nurgaliev held meetings of the antiterrorist commission and Operations Staff, which was attended by representatives of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee and the Southern Federal District, reports KalmykiaNews agency.

After the meeting, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev with President of FIDE and Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited Orthodox chapel St. Sergius of Radonezh, where placed candles in memory of the soldiers of Kalmykia, fallen in battle for their country, and at the end of the day visited a Central buddhist temple of Kalmykia.

After the tour around Buddhist temple “Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliev in the library of kalmyk khurul gave a brief interview to local journalists, reports KalmykiaNews agency.

The Minister said that the Republic of Kalmykia is a good example of a multi-national, multi-religious republic, where equal attention is paid to to all the traditional religions. In parting, Mr Nurgaliyev presented commemorative gift for monks of the central temple of Kalmykia.

Mr Nurgaliyev noted that he visited the first time in Elista, “I like that here there is a development.”

– “I am astonished by the spiritual values and traditions which are stored here”, – admitted the minister.
