Kalmyk Children Classes in South Jersey (USA). Alta Buruschkin and his wife, Udbala, would like to open their house in South Jersey for children’s classes on Kalmyk history, culture, customs and basic Buddhist classes.

They would like to hold these classes every other Saturday beginning October 3rd at 11am. The target group is 8-18 years old but can be flexible.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Russian Representative Dr. Ngawang Rabgyal visited Elista city, capital of Republic of Kalmykia from 21 to 24th May, reported Central Tibetan Administration (Dharamsala). His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Russian Representative Dr. Ngawang Rabgyal was invited as a guest on the occasion of 400th anniversary of Kalmykia becoming a part of Russian Federation.

ELISTA, Russia, April 24 (Xinhua) — The Confucius Institute of Russia’s Kalmyk State University was officially founded Friday in Elista, the capital city of the Kalmykia Republic in southern Russia.

First steps from socialism to capitalism

We were on the threshold of major fundamental change. The republic was precipitously turning towards the market. I was doing my utmost to employ, and modify, every policy that could be of use to Kalmykia. I wanted people to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as it were, and to feel some relief at last. These steps took a lot of painstaking effort. Every problem led to another one. A whole knot of contradictions! I had to single out the priorities. A severe centralization of power was needed.
