Kalmykia to build town for Vietnamese immigrants
RIA Novosti: Russia’s southern republic of Kalmykia will build a town for Vietnamese immigrants, Kalmyk president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov’s press secretary said.
Buyancha Galzanov said Ilyumzhanov proposed the town be built during a meeting with Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet, and also suggested the town be named after the Vietnamese president, who supported the idea. Read the rest of this entry »
Lundin Petroleum spuds Petrovskaya-1 exploration well on the Lagansky block
Lundin Petroleum AB has started drilling the Petrovskaya-1 exploration well in the Lagansky block, situated in the Russian sector of the northern Caspian. Lundin Petroleum has a 70 percent net interest in the Lagansky block.

Lundin Petroleum starts drilling Lagansky exploration well in Caspian Sea
Lundin Petroleum has started drilling the Laganskaya-1 exploration well in the Lagansky block, situated in the northern Caspian Sea in Russia. Lundin Petroleum has currently a 70% net interest in the Lagansky block.
The well, with a planned depth of 2,000 meters, is targeting Cretaceous and Jurassic Sandstone Reservoirs. July 3, AVIA.RU – The Government of Kalmykia and the Austrian company Diamond Aircraft intend to establish a joint venture assembly of light-engine aircrafts in the republic, hoping to come up with this product to the private market and in the small special aviation field, informs the newspaper “Kommersant” in Volgograd.
The Austrian company Diamond Aircraft is considering building a factory in the territory of Kalmykia’s to assembly light-engine aircraft, manufacturing of aircraft propellers and wings for wind power mills. Rosenergomash entered Kalmykia investing EUR 10 million in a new plant. Russian small power-plant engineering, which has up to now been in stagnation, is recovering. At the end of the last week Rosenergomash Concern and Kalmykia signed an agreement for construction of an electrical engineering plant on the Kalmyk territory for EUR 10 million. The experts believe that the number of these enterprises will be growing with the increase in demand for small power-plant engineering products by 25 % per year and the industry consolidation prospects.

Falcon capital to build wind power plants in Kalmykia
The Russian republic of Kalmykia and the Czech company Falcon Capital plan to build three wind farms in the republic at a total cost of over 150 million Euro, Kalmykia Economics Minister Vladimir Sengleev told journalists in Elista.
