Buddha’s Birthday, Day of Enlightenment and Parinirvana
June 4, 2023 Buddhist celebrate a significant anniversary from the Buddhist calendar. It is Buddha’s Shakyamuni Birthday, Day of Enlightenment and Parinirvana.
Like in many other Buddhist countries people in Kalmykia try to refrain from vicious deeds during the holy month Ur Sar, but do only virtuous.

The sacred month Ur Sar has begun in Kalmykia
On 21th of May the sacred month Ur Sar has begun in the Republic of Kalmykia. During the whole month until 19th of June the believers in Kalmykia will honor the spiritual deeds of the buddist religion founder Budda Shakyamuni – birth, enlightment, and entering the Paranirvana. Despite of the fact thatthese events took placemore than 2600 years ago, the deeds of Budda and he himself are vivid reality for the buddist believers.
Welcome to the unstrict retrit-nunge, which will take place in the buddhist temple “Gedden sheddub choy korling” on 1,2,3 of june. The beginning is at 9:00 a.m.

The Great Buddhist holiday meet in the central khurul of Kalmykia
15 lunar day of the holy month Uryus Sar became a real holiday in Kalmykia. In Elista, the celebration began at sunrise.
In the central khurul Republic of Kalmykia “Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” back in the early hours came laity to take a one-day vow of Mahayana. His doctor has given to Buddhist philosophy, Professor Venerable Geshe lharamba Tenzin Dugda.
He talked about how the great sage of the Shakya kind, Siddhartha Gautama, came into this world to tell people the way to liberation. June 15, 5:00 am Geshe lharamba Tenzin Dugda gives all-day vow of Mahayana, which includes a vow of non-alcoholic beverages. The action “take the vows of sobriety” is taking place in Kalmykia. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulated the birthday of Buddha
Celebrating a birthday, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha Sakyamuni parinirvana in Elista, resulted in an unforgettable celebration in honor of the three signs of Teachers. His magnificently celebrated in many Buddhist countries. Since 2000, this holiday is officially included in the calendar of UNESCO.
Congratulated the residents and visitors with a bright celebration of Kalmykia Republic of Kalmykia President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. Key in his speech became a phrase: “We pray that His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama arrived in Elista in September after the Beijing Olympics.” Among the VIP-persons present at the ritual service, was a famous traveler Fyodor Konyukhov.
