On the 26th of July the 1st President of Kalmykia, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov paid an official visit to Bulgaria, where in Sofia he met with the Bulgarian Prime-Minister H.E. Boyko Borisov. During the meeting the issues of chess development as well as possibilities of investment projects realization in Bulgaria by international business circles were discussed.

FIDE chief Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Ashmore Group set up a joint fund
The President of the World Chess Federation and ex-president of Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is reportedly going to set up a $10 billion investment fund with UK major Ashmore Group.
Ex-president of Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilymzhinov and Ashmore CEO Mark Coombs signed an agreement in London, reports Kommersant Daily. The joint fund would develop projects in Russia, CIS and East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Japan, focusing on energy, telecommunications, metals and food industries.

The President of the World Chess Federation and ex-president of Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has bought a 52.5% stake in Bulgaria’s largest fuel company Petrol Holding.
Swiss-based Credit Mediterranee owned by Kirsan Ilyumzhinov bought the 47.5% stake owned by Denis Ershov and the 5% stake owned by Alexander Melnik, Vedomosti Daily reports. Ilyumzhinov plans to buy 100% of Petrol and is currently engaged in negotiations with another shareholder Mitko Sabev, who holds a 47.5% stake.

Ilyumzhinov, Vanga, Dalai Lama and Kalmykia
Taking the decision to run for president of Kalmykia, I realized clearly that people were fed up with continuous elections, political intrigues and playing at democracy. What Kalmykia needed was a dramatic change of structure and attitude which would take the needs of the people into consideration, and would awaken and instill in each citizen the belief that he could, and must, earn a real wage for real work, rather than the miserable pennies which he was paid now. The republic must quickly embrace a market economy before it was too late.
