Kalmykia history
The Kalmyks originate from Central Asia. Their ancestors — the Oirats — belonged to the western branch of Mongolian peoples and represented a very powerful alliance of tribes which were formations of the early feudal state under which dominion the whole Mongolia was in the first half of XV сentury. Consequently interregional conflicts and a number of military bad lucks caused the reduction of Oirat Empire.

Russia grants Dalai Lama a visa

Russia says it is granting a visa to the Tibetan exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, for the first time since the collapse of the USSR.
This will allow him to visit the large Buddhist population in southern Kalmykia region.
Dalai Lama visited Soviet Russia in 1991, but since then Moscow has bowed to Chinese pressure and denied him a visa. Read the rest of this entry »

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov about Communism in Soviet Union. We students had free access to many western publications. A number of articles on UFOs, on they way in which a person’s individuality manifests itself in their handwriting, on the experience of clinical death, on clairvoyance and bio-energy, aroused my interest and I became an avid reader of everything dedicated to these enigmatic phenomena.
